What happens when street flavour becomes cultural currency?
Kasi Flavour & Co wasn’t just built to sell food. It was born to honour the pulse of township lifestyle; the textures, swagger and taste. The challenge? Capturing that energy in a brand that could live across platforms and products without losing its heart.
The Ask:
Help bring Kasi Flavour & Co to life as a dynamic food culture brand rooted in kasi heritage, yet ready to grow into a multidimensional platform, blending fast-casual food offerings, immersive event curation, and a content-driven rollout.
The team needed a tonal and visual identity that celebrated township life with intention, clarity, and creative heat while positioning the brand to connect with urban youth, everyday eaters, and lifestyle-led partners.
My Response:
I led a condensed Brand Pulse Session followed by visual and narrative concept development. I approached the brand as a cultural artefact that's built around three principles: flavour, memory, and ambition.
Through storytelling logic, I helped the founders clarify their brand’s voice that's grounded in the nostalgia of street food, but elevated by modern presentation and community insight. I designed a visual and tonal foundation that helped set the brand apart:
• Tagline and naming conventions.
• Slogan and flavour descriptors.
• Colour language tied to mood, heat, and movement.
• Imagery references that balance township grit and contemporary polish.
• Brand tone: conversational, spirited, and rooted in local code-switching.
Outcome:
Kasi Flavour & Co emerged with a sharper sense of who it is, who it’s for, and how it speaks. The brand now sits as an intentional bridge between kasi culture and modern commerce, ready to grow into products, partnerships, and a loyal community.
The conceptual deck became both a creative compass and a cultural mirror reflecting the everyday genius of township life, and translating it into strategy, visual flow, and flavour-forward storytelling.
